Apparently the Vikings liked chowing down on something very similar. We have modified the original viking recipe to suit the modern day vegan Viking looking for a fast healthy breakfast!
Recipe
1:1 Rolled Oats and Nut Milk (I used walnuts and water, no need to soak the nuts just burn that blender or use any kind of nut butter, better for the environment too)
A very small pinch of salt
A little sugar or dried fruit to taste (i used a small handful of sultanas)
Half a probiotic capsule as a starter culture
MIX & LEAVE to ferment on your benchtop for 8 or 9 hours or longer if want a funkier taste
To eat I grated an apple (goes well with walnuts) and added a little cinnamon and honey.
But you could vary all of the above and use blueberries and/or strawberries, add vanilla essence, make Tahini milk – anything you like! You can use any kind of oats just depends how mushy you want it – you could blend the oats…..especially if your making baby food.
