We don’t post many of our own recipes, mainly because there are SO many amazing and talented food bloggers/photographers out there. But anyway we had a go at making our own granola for the first time and it was surprisingly easy and most importantly delicious!
The recipe below is a bit of template and can be used for many different creations!
The Recipe
2 Cups of Rolled Oats
1 cup of nuts or seeds or both
2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
1/3 cup of oil (coconut oil is good but other oils will work) and 1/3 cup of liquid sweetner (maple syrup, honey, agave syrup)
Pinch of salt (optional)
Note: We used less that 1/3 of cup of oil and sweetener and it was a bit sweet for our taste. Feel free to use less, but there is some point at which the granola won’t bind together to make clumps but will more like a healthy toasted muesli.
Cooking Instructions
1.Mix all the dry ingredients in a large bowl
2. Just gently melt the oil if necessary and add the sweetener and mix everything together with a silicone spatula to ensure oil and sweetener are fully incorporated into the dry ingredients.
3. Spread on a baking sheet using baking paper evenly
4. Bake low and slow at 150 degrees – ours cooked in 35 minutes (nearly burnt it!) but can take up to 1 hour so keep an eye on it that it’s not burning.
