My name is Leslie and I am the founder of The Plant Food Company and I’ve been a local to the Willoughby area for more than 20 years. I started the business out of my lifelong passion for eating food that is: healthy for you, good to the environment and respectful of both human and other animals rights.
We are at the vanguard of a movement to change the way we think about, and the way we produce and eat food.
We believe that food can only be truly good; if it’s good for you, it’s good for the planet and it is good for the other animals.
As an ethical business, we aim to lead by example in order to spread awareness, inspire and empower consumers to take action.
You may be more than a little surprised to know that when you buy food from the supermarket often times, if you add up the value of the packaging, the cost of transporting the packet and the marketing fees it’s is far more than the cost of the food inside! And all that packaging and transporting ends up in landfill or as CO2 emissions.
The Plant Food Company is not simply a business but an extension of the choices I make in my own life. I often get asked whether the business is 100% vegan and the answer is no, we are not perfect, and currently some of our chocolate range may contain dairy and/or honey.
But the range of unpackaged vegan bulk products is expanding rapidly and we will stock a vegan option if one is currently available.
In other words, if we can be a part of assisting our customers to improve their own health, reduce environmental emissions and help end unnecessary animal suffering by adopting a plant strong diet that’s good enough for us and we think it should be good enough for you too!
We hold all our products to a high standard because when we are not eating, we are thinking about eating, in other words we love food and we hope you love our food and other products as much as we do.
